Melt Proof Makeup
Hi I'm Chandra, and I have oily skin...... and I absolutely HATE wearing makeup in the heat. First off, I'm a "hair" person.. I love hair.. BIG hair and everyone knows a lot of hair creates it's own furnace so to add makeup into that equation equals a massive FAIL!... Although I do have great skin *pops collar*, my skin tone isn't as even as I'd like it to be (I'm working on it.) So going without makeup isn't an option for me. I needed to find a method that won't have me looking like a grease monkey...I'm in a southern state now too which means humidity... Oh no ma'am, I'm far too fabulous to be laid out on the side of the road dead from a heat stroke all b/c I have way too much hair and makeup on. But no longer will I have to choose between hair and makeup when going out in the heat. Here are a few tips I picked up from the GORGEOUS Miss Mally Roncal in addition to a couple of my own. They are tried and true so I hope they can help some of you.
#1. After cleansing, toning and moisturizing your skin, apply a primer to your skin. This will help to set your makeup.
#2. Use a powder foundation. You will still be able to achieve coverage if you buff it into your skin AND it will help you control the shine. (If you have oily skin like myself, apply a mattifier (see my previous post) to your skin BEFORE applying your moisturizer and primer.)
#3. Apply a waterproof eyeliner to your eyelids & set with eyeshadow to prevent any smudging or "running."
#4. Use a waterproof mascara to avoid smudging.
#6. Set with a finishing spray. A finishing spray will hold everything together & prevent "melting."
#6. Apply lipgloss and go! I prefer less stickier versions of lipgloss in the heat. Ain't nothing worse than having the wind blow and your hair getting stuck in your gloss.. lol! I LOVE MAC's Lip Gelee

Product Review
Summer is coming so I've been looking for some new products to help me control my oily skin. Although I work with Dermalogia, this is my first time using it on myself and I found that their 'Dermal Clay Cleanser' is a MUST for people with overactive sebaceous glands like myself. First off, it's a cleanser made of clay (as the name states, lol.) Clay absorbs oil so I recommend anyone with oily skin to use a clay masque on their skin twice a week to help control your skin's oil production. I like this product because you can "feel" the product working. It contains menthol, so you get a tingly sensation as you work it into your skin. The menthol helps to calm irritated skin. In addition to the clay and menthol, it contains purifying botanicals that help to refine your pores (makes them appear smaller since oily skin tends to have bigger pores) It's also supposed to help prevent future breakouts. I'd use this cleanser twice daily followed by an oil free or gel moisturizer. If you have oily skin, it's very important to moisturize. Although oily, your skin can become dehydrated which will result in your body over producing oil to try and compensate for the lack of moisture in the skin. So moisturize, moisturize, moisturize :o)
Another product I found from Dermalogia is their 'Clearing Mattifier.' This is a product you would use during the day after cleansing but before moisturizing. It's made out of silicone but it does not feel heavy at all. You apply to the places where you're likely to get oily i.e., your t-zone or places where you have breakouts. In conjunction with helping to providing oil control, this product helps heal any breakouts you might have and prevents them from reoccurring. It also contains ingredients to help smooth fine lines and smooth your skin texture. So this also has great anti-aging benefits! (talk about killing two birds with one stone) This product is a favorite amongst my acneic clients.

Groupon = Failure
I've definitely HAVE to get better about this blogging thing.. lol! To catch you all up.. I'm now a working Esthy... and I love it so much. I'm in the process of building a steady clientele which requires much networking. I'm aware that this will take some time so I'm patient. I've met a few clients that I absolutely adore and some that I would not care to see again. LOL! Our spa sold over 450+ "groupons." Are any of you familiar with this site? Anywho, I've been busy b/c of it but on the other hand, most of these people are TACKY as all hell!!! They aren't regular spa goers, they just simply took advantage of an awesome deal. An $80 facial for $37, given by a licensed, skilled professional.... you can't beat it. I've had people lie to me, say that they've left their groupon at home and that they would bring it back, only they never return. I've had someone BOLDY steal a product that I recommended for her as she was changing. Oh and this is the kicker... the Groupon cost $37 as I stated before and Groupon states "Groupon customers are the BEST tippers"... ummmm FAIL!!!! The thief I mentioned tipped me $6!!! And I had another "Daisy" tip me $5 while saying "I'm assume we can do this?".. LMBO!!! Please tip your servers... that's all I'm going to say about that. But anyway, aside from the few bad seeds, I've met some great individuals and I'm truly blessed to be able to do something I love. Paying your dues sucks.. BUT it's a must :) I'm keeping this short.. Until next time... Xoxo

It's About Time....
Hey loves!! I'm finally here in blogger world.. I've been wanting to do this for quite sometime, but I never could find the time to sit down and create one. I'm glad I'm here and I'm so excited to share my journey with everybody.. I'm a newly licensed Esthetician and an aspiring Makeup Artist that has relocated to a new city and state. I'm starting over from "scratch" and I'm taking you guys on this roller coaster ride with me. It might be cliche to say, but I've always had a keen liking for skin care and makeup. As a child I can remember watching my mother's nightly regimen of cleaning her skin and putting on her night cream before bed. I also remember her daily love affair with red lipstick (she still wears it everyday) that lead me to pursue a career in skin and makeup. Stay tuned as I embark on getting acclimated in a new city, meeting new people and turning my dream of becoming a spa/boutique owner and owner of my very own skin care/ makeup line into a gorgeous reality....
